  2. member of the python and boa family, the 
  3. Boidae. One of the largest snakes, growing 
  4. to 9 m/30 ft or more, it is found in and near 
  5. water, where it lies in wait for the birds 
  6. and animals on which it feeds. The anaconda 
  7. is not venomous, but kills its prey by 
  8. coiling round it and squeezing until the 
  9. creature suffocates.

  14. founded as Copperopolis 1883 by the Anaconda
  15. Copper Mining Company, and was incorporated

  17. ft above sea level and 42 km/26 mi NW of
  18. Butte.
